The era of the big department store seems to be ending, as online retail continues to spike, and consumers are less interested in single destination shopping. That shift was brought home last week as I visited our local Sears department store for one last time. Gone was the merchandise, and even the furniture, and gone were the local jobs.
The box store shuffle continues of course, and I am hearing that COSTCO will soon occupy the old Sears location.
That might be exciting for those people wishing to buy large quantities of toilet paper, but what about the rest of us?
